"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,..." I Corinthians 15:3-4
And this is how it all began...
Our
Church was founded in 1999 by David Stanford.
David was
first burdened early in 1998-99 to leave his Church in
Florence, S.C., and start a new church in Chatham County,
the place of his birth.
With lots of support and prayers from family and friends, West Chatham Baptist Church was born on September 9th, 1999.
The first meeting was
held in the local community center. As attendance grew,
they moved to the Pooler YMCA in 2001. Every Sunday morning and
evening, members of the church had to set up and tear down chairs and
the sound system.
Again as the membership grew, and as blessings came from the Lord, a plot of land was donated to our Church on South Rogers Street. After much prayer, plans were developed for the land.
In March 2006, WCBC
was so blessed to be able to move into their own Church home.
All the glory is given to God for providing this wonderful opportunity to reach into our community with the Good News of the Gospel.
